Design & Prototytpe of Eye Dropper for Aspire

Aspire Pharmaceuticals approached us with a unique challenge: to design an eye dropper suitable for visually and/or physically impaired individuals. This case study showcases our journey from initial concept to final product, highlighting the collaborative process and innovative solutions employed to meet the client's needs.

1

Client Brief:

The initial brief from Aspire Pharmaceuticals outlined the need for an eye dropper that would be accessible to individuals with visual or physical impairments. Our in-house product designer embarked on the task of creating initial concepts and designs that aligned with this vision.

4

Refinement and Finalization:

With each iteration, we honored in on the key features that would make the eye dropper accessible and effective for its intended users. Adjustments were made to improve pressure distribution and bottle effectiveness, leading to a final design that met the client's requirements.

2

Design Iterations:

After presenting the initial designs to the client, we engaged in discussions to refine the concept further. Modifications were made based on client feedback, and initial CAD designs were submitted for approval. The iterative process continued as we addressed issues such as fit and function, adjusting hinge points and resolving minor collisions.

5

Production and Deployment:

Once the design was perfected, it was submitted for hard tooling, and the product was manufactured for use in hospitals. The eye dropper is now available to individuals in need, providing a solution that enhances accessibility and usability.

3

Prototyping and Testing:

The first 'fit and function' model revealed some challenges, including issues with bottle fit and hinge functionality. Through iterative prototyping and testing, we refined the design to ensure optimal performance. Techniques such as creating a functioning living hinge were employed to enhance functionality and usability.

6

Conclusion:

The collaboration between our team and Aspire Pharmaceuticals resulted in the successful development of an eye dropper that meets the needs of visually and physically impaired individuals. Through iterative design, prototyping, and testing, we were able to create a product that not only functions effectively but also addresses the specific challenges faced by its users.
